Loic Remy has left QPR, joining West London rivals Chelsea for £10.5 million.

Yesterday saw Chelsea send their £50 million flop striker Fernando Torres on a two-year loan deal to AC Milan. And they did not waste any time in attempting to replace him. They made an £8 million bid for QPR striker Loic Remy, meeting the player's release clause at Loftus Road.

The French international spent the 2013-14 season on loan at Newcastle United, but rejected a return to the club last week. Remy was also on the brink of joining Liverpool earlier this summer, but The Reds pulled out of a deal after concerns over his medical.

But Jose Mourinho confirmed yesterday that the club had taken on a second opinion from several experts on the reason he failed that medical and Chelsea were informed their was no reason not to sign him.

So this deal looked cut and dry, until late last night that is.

Arsenal swooped in with an attempt to hijack the move by submitting the same bid for the player, leaving Remy with the choice of London clubs.

But it now looks as though Remy will be going to Chelsea. Arsenal dropped their interest earlier this afternoon and now the player himself has been snapped holding up a Chelsea shirt ahead of his move to Stamford Bridge.

Remy will now do battle with Diego Costa and Didier Drogba for Chelsea's starting striker spot.

Can Remy fire Chelsea to success?
