Real Madrid negotiating €20m deal for Manchester United ace - report

Javier Hernandez

Real Madrid have reportedly turned their attention to Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez.

With just two days of the transfer window remaining, Real Madrid have decided to make a late move for Manchester United’s out-of-favour striker Javier Hernandez, according to a report.

The La Liga giants have already made headways during the summer with the big-money acquisitions of Toni Kroos, James Rodriguez and Costa Rican shot-stopper Keylor Navas.

A new striker, however, has yet to arrive at the Santiago Bernabeu, and it appears that a new number nine to challenge Karim Benzema will top off president Florentino Perez’s signings for this summer.

AS Monaco striker Radamel Falcao has been heavily linked, as has Manchester City’s Alvaro Negredo over the past two days.

According to fresh reports in the Spanish publication El Confidencial, however, Los Blancos have reportedly turned their attention to United’s Chicharito.

“The entity headed by Florentino Perez continues to work to close the team and their efforts are focused on the strikers," the report claims. "There have been several names that have been mentioned this summer: from Luis Suarez to Alvaro Negredo through to Mattia Destro and Falcao.

"Chicharito Hernandez adds to this list of players: Real Madrid are negotiating with Manchester United and look to sign the Mexican with a starting price of €20 million."

Chicharito has struggled for game-time with the Red Devils over the past two seasons and often found himself watching on from the sidelines during David Moyes’s reign.

Even with the arrival of new boss Louis van Gaal, the situation has remained the same as the 26-year-old striker has made just one appearance so far this campaign.

Clearly behind the likes of Robin van Persie, Wayne Rooney and Danny Welbeck in the pecking order, an Old Trafford exit has long been on the cards, although not many would have pictured Madrid as a possible destination.

Since arriving in the summer of 2010, Hernandez has made a total of 153 appearances for the club, scoring 59 goals in the process.

Should Manchester United sell Chicharito before the transfer window deadline?
