Morgan De Sanctis 7.5/10 - Relatively unseen in the first half. Made a pair of brilliant stops after the break to preserve Roma’s 1-0 lead. Tipped Josip Ilicic’s fierce free-kick onto the bar before denying Khouma Babacar at close range with a superb reaction save.
Vasilis Torosidis 6.5/10 - Solid as ever standing in for Maicon. Did everything Rudi Garcia asked of him, thwarting attacks on Roma’s right flank and bursting forward at every opportunity.
Kostas Manolas 7/10 - Nervous through the first five minutes, then settled. Did an excellent job reading the game, stepping forward and cutting out passes to quickly win back possession. A positive debut after joining just days ago to replace Mehdi Benatia.
Davide Astori 6/10 - Got the better of Mario Gomez through the opening 45 minutes, bullying the German. However, faded down the stretch and was caught out of position too often for comfort.
Ashley Cole 6.5/10 - A professional showing for the ex-Chelsea man. Reliable in defense, making several crucial tackles with Fiorentina on the counter. Didn’t get forward too often, something Garcia will no doubt be out to change.
Miralem Pjanic 7/10 - Immediately picked up where he left off last season, providing the necessary sparks of genius in the Giallorossi midfield. Created five chances and completed 90% of his passes on the day, causing constant problems for Fiorentina.
Daniele De Rossi 7/10 - Shielded the Roma back-line with ruthless efficiency and spread the ball around from his position at the base of midfield. Switched to centre-back when Manolas was substituted and marshaled the defence to victory as Fiorentina pushed for a result in the final 30 minutes.
Radja Nainggolan 8.5/10 - Undoubtedly the best player on the pitch on the day. Was absolutely everywhere, winning possession in crucial areas and starting attacks. Struck the opener with a searing volley taken ever so well and fed Gervinho a perfectly-weighted pass to assist the Ivorian’s goal with the last kick of the game.
Juan Iturbe 6.5/10 - A promising debut from Roma’s marquee signing. Showed flashes of his sublime trickery and fizzed a free-kick just over the bar early. Added his fair share of work on the defensive end to boot.
Francesco Totti 6.5/10 - Not the greatest day at the office for the Roma legend, but still produced some inspired play. Unlocked the Viola backline several times with some neat trademark flicks. Made way for Florenzi with 20 minutes to go.
Gervinho 7/10 - Had two golden chances he created for himself with some outstanding solo work, but simply couldn’t finish. Finally got his reward at the death when he latched onto Nainggolan’s through-ball and rounded Neto to deposit into an empty net.
Seydou Keita (67’ for Manolas) 6.5/10 - Helped solidify the midfield to preserve Roma’s lead. Made several smart challenges, showing his wealth of experience.
Alessandro Florenzi (70’ for Totti) 6.5/10 - Played his part coming on for Totti. Defended deeply when required, then broke forward with energy to force Fiorentina to respect the counter attack.
Adem Ljajic (77’ for Iturbe) 6/10 - Held the ball up in the corners. Ran at defenders in an effort to create danger but failed to hit the target when going for goal.
