Chelsea youngster secures Premier League loan move - can he prove he's a future Blues star?

Nathaniel Chalobah

Burnley have confirmed the signing of Chelsea youngster Nathaniel Chalobah on a season-long loan deal.

The Blues have got their season off to a blistering start, beating Burnley, Leicester and Everton with a combined score of 11-4 across those games with devastating contributions from new signings Cesc Fabregas and Diego Costa - making Jose Mourinho's side favourites for the title.

With an exceptional squad already, Chelsea are unlikely to be busy bringing players in today having landed Loic Remy from QPR on Sunday. However, they could look to shift some players out of the club, with Fernando Torres and Marco van Ginkel joining AC Milan, and Nathaniel Chalobah is the latest player to be farmed out on loan by Chelsea.

The England Under-21 international is well down the pecking order and Stamford Bridge, but given that he is tipped to have a bright future with the Blues, he has so far been loaned out to Championship clubs in the form of Watford, Nottingham Forest and Middlesbrough before returning to West London this summer.

A whole host of Championship clubs have once again been linked with moves for Chalobah, but a deal to see him remain in the Premier League has now been completed.

Newly promoted Burnley have picked up just one point upon their return to the Premier League, but with games against Chelsea and Manchester United so far, it's hard to write off Sean Dyche's side just yet. The Clarets landed Hull City winger George Boyd in a £3m deal earlier today, and have now confirmed that Chalobah has made it two captures today, joining on a season-long loan.

Giving Chalobah a taste of Premier League football on a regular basis is certainly in Chelsea's best interests, and his deal works out well for both parties. If Chalobah can prove that he has what it takes to play well in the top flight, then they may be more persuaded than ever to believe that he can be a future star for club and country. Meanwhile, Burnley have a talented young player who can help them in their fight for Premier League survival, and his versatility to play either centre back or central midfield will be invaluable to Dyche's men.

Does Chalobah have it what it takes to be a future Chelsea star?
