Official: Taider returns to Inter after under a month with Saints

Inter Milan

Saphir Taider's loan from Inter to Southampton has ended after less than four weeks, the Premier League club have confirmed.

Southampton have confirmed that Algerian international Saphir Taider will be returning to Inter after a disastrous start to his loan.

Taider arrived less than a month ago in the deal that saw Southampton striker Pablo Daniel Osvaldo move in the other direction.

The 22-year-old fell out with manager Ronald Koeman, who stated that he was 'impatient for his first-team chance' and indicated that Taider had struggled to adapt to his new club.

The speedy exit of Taider doesn't affect Osvaldo's position at Inter, but it is a setback for a player who needs to prove he can live up to his hype.

Although Taider's exit has been predicted by media sources in England and Italy for days, Southampton only confirmed it today.

"Southampton Football Club can confirm that it has agreed to terminate midfielder Saphir Taïder’s loan spell," a statement says on the club's website.

"The midfielder joined Saints for the 2014/15 campaign but, having failed to live up to the high levels of commitment expected of Southampton players, that arrangement has been cut short by the club."

It has been reported that Taider has already been pledged to Serie A minnows Sassuolo on loan, but that deal is yet to be officially announced and there could still be paperwork to do.
