Radamel Falcao breaks silence over prospective United transfer

Old Trafford

Manchester United are yet to complete and confirm the deal that sees prolific striker swap AS Monaco for Old Trafford but he has spoken to the press…

Manchester United's stuttering start to the Premier League will be completely overshadowed by the manner in which they have conducted themselves in the transfer market - particularly on deadline day.

As well as completing the protracted transfer of Daley Blind from Ajax, a versatile Dutchman who can provide cover in a multitude of defensive positions as well as own the defensive midfield position, the club are attempting to push through a deal for one of the most clinical penalty-box poachers in world football - Radamel Falcao.

While the nation awaits on official confirmation of the coup, as the Colombian was jetted in on private aircraft earlier today in order to undergo a medical examination and thrash out the finer details of the transfer, the Independent seem to have already spoken to the AS Monaco hotshot who has broken his silence over the prospective switch to Manchester United.

He proclaimed: "It's a dream come true," in a headline that will dominate tomorrow's back-pages.

Falcao said that to "play for one of the truly great teams like United" was the realisation of a life-time ambition.

"Manchester United are one of the biggest clubs in the world and I've always dreamt of playing for one of the truly great teams and winning lots of trophies.

"It is a once in a lifetime opportunity and you can't turn that down. I'm a huge fan of English football and watch it whenever I can.

"Now the reality is I'm going to play there," the 28-year-old concluded.

The Independent claim Falcao "touched down in Manchester" at 18:48 for his medical at Carrington - the club's training headquarters.

United will pay AS Monaco a £6 million signing-on fee as well as fronting a portion of the player's handsome wages, believed to be £146,000 per week should the transfer have been concluded in time.
