Sampdoria and Manchester United working on Romero deal

Sergio Romero

According to the latest from Italian transfer expert Alfredo Pedullà, Manchester United are trying to agree a deal for Sampdoria goalkeeper Sergio Romero.

Sergio Romero seems to be closer to Manchester United than Liverpool with reports that the Red Devils are pushing for a deal before the transfer window closes.

The Argentine international goalkeeper is expected to leave Sampdoria, who seem keen to relieve themselves of his wage bill.

Liverpool were believed to be frontrunners for Romero but Italian transfer market expert Alfredo Pedullà has indicated that talks are ongoing between Manchester United and Romero.

The two sides are said to be currently trying to agree the terms of a deal but are yet to agree on whether it would be a loan or a permanent sale.

There could be quite a lot of work to do before midnight and the transfer could go right to the wire if things continue as they are.

Romero has been at Sampdoria since 2011 when he signed from Dutch side AZ Alkmaar but he was sent out on loan to Monaco last year.
