Steve Bruce updates Hatem Ben Arfa transfer situation

Newcastle United attacker's transfer to Hull City will go beyond the eleventh hour… according to the latest transfer deadline day news.

Hull City have been one of the most active participants in the deadline day transfer market having completed deals, both permanent and on loan, for five players.

However, their business for the summer window is yet to be concluded, despite the window officially closing earlier this evening, Monday (23:00 BST).

According to talkSPORT, Steve Bruce has revealed that "the club have been granted a two hour extension [from the Football Association] in order to complete the signing of Newcastle United playmaker Hatem Ben Arfa."

France international Ben Arfa - who arrived in Hull around half an hour past the deadline - is a technical exquisite attacker capable of exciting a crowd due to his dribbling ability and effectiveness in and around the box. Last year he returned three goals and three assists from 13 Premier League starts but has become a fringe player at St James's Park.

Should Hull complete the Ben Arfa deal within the confines of their transfer deadline extension, then the Marseille academy graduate would join the likes of Brian Lenihan, Mohamed Diame, Gaston Ramirez and club record purchase Abel Hernandez as deadline day recruits.

The Tigers also negotiated the sale of George Boyd to Burnley for an undisclosed fee.
