Chelsea's £27m man makes a revelation that might shock supporters

Fabregas Barcelona

Cesc Fabregas says Saturday was the first time he has played without pain for eight months.

Cesc Fabregas has revealed that he has been suffering from a groin injury for eight months.

The Spaniard took part in Chelsea's win chaotic 6-3 win over Everton on Saturday, registering his fourth assist of the Premier League campaign - in just his third appearance since joining the Blues for £27 million this summer.

And, according to the 27-year-old, the victory at Goodison Park was the first game he has played for eight months in which he felt no pain.

"After 8 months of groin injury, on Saturday I played my first game without pain!!," Fabregas wrote on Instagram.

The Spaniard credits Chelsea physio Ivan Ortega for his recovery and will no doubt aim to perform even better now that he is pain-free. The news, though, does raise questions about the medical Fabregas underwent when moving to Stamford Bridge.

Had the Blues known he possessed an injury, shouldn't it have affected the deal?

The presumption would be that Fabregas is such a good acquisition Chelsea thought a minor injury not enough of a stumbling block. Intriguingly, Loic Remy, who had failed a medical at Liverpool earlier this summer, was also passed fit enough to make the move to Jose Mourinho's side yesterday.

Regardless of Fabregas's injury problems, however, his form has not wavered for the Blues so far this Premier League campaign - perhaps justifying Chelsea's decision to ignore his groin problems during his transfer.

Indeed, as Opta stats show, the 27-year-old has made the most assists of anyone in the Premier League so far.

And if that was Fabregas when not fully fit, it is a little scary to think how good he might become now.

Are you surprised by Fabregas's comments?
