AC Milan have issued a statement confirming that talented youngster Isaac Akuetteh is fighting for his life after being struck by a train.

AC Milan rising star Isaac Akuetteh was the victim of a horrific accident yesterday afternoon after straying onto the railway line.

The 15-year-old Ghanian is part of Milan's youth set-up and is seen as a huge talent for the future amongst the Rossoneri's technical staff.

Akuetteh was walking with headphones in his ears when he walked across railway tracks around Cadorago, near Como and was struck by a train.

La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Akuetteh's injuries were found to be severe after he was rushed to hospital.

A statement was issued by AC Milan last night in support of their stricken player.

"Today Isaac Akuetteh, a young 15-year-old striker who has developed in the Rossoneri youth system was the victim of a serious accident and is fighting for his life," it reads.

"Isaac, everyone at AC Milan is with you and supporting you in your most important goal, don't give up!"

Akuetteh dazzled everyone at Milan last year with a scoring run of 21 goals in 17 games and has been tipped to graduate into the reserve team from the youth ranks ahead of schedule.

The entire football community will be hoping Akuetteh makes a complete recovery.
