Leeds Twitter account causes fan backlash on deadline day

Leeds United Crest

Leeds United supporters have hit out at the club on Twitter after teasing transfer tweets from the club resulted in disappointment.

A day that is usually full of expectation and excitement ended in utter disappointment for fans of Championship side Leeds United.

After securing the services of Brian Montenegro on loan and Souleymane Doukara on a permanent deal, many fans were even more excited when the club's official Twitter account urged them not to go to bed because their transfer dealings weren't finished.

Leeds even retweeted their captain, Jason Pearce, who posted this excited tweet on his account:

With Leeds fans buzzing at the prospect of a new signing this next tweet would have been soul-destroying. It confirmed the departure of one of their best players Matt Smith, who the club agreed to sell to Fulham just two-weeks after he signed a new three-year contract.

And when Leeds fans thought things couldn't get much worse the club's next tweet rubbed salt into their wounds.

That was it. Leeds had urged their faithful supporters to stay awake on a weeknight to witness them sell two strikers. As you can imagine there was a considerable amount of upset fans at this point and unfortunately many of the responses we can't post in this article, but you should get the gist.
