"I won’t apologise for saying it but Sandro is an excellent signing — he’s a monster, exactly what QPR needed," the pundit is quoted by the Daily Mail to have said.
QPR manager Harry Redknapp completed much transfer business over the summer, including the acquisition of former Manchester United mainstay Rio Ferdinand, however, it is the addition of Sandro that has generated hype amongst the British footballing media.
The defensive-minded midfielder, dubbed The Beast, returned 22 clearances, 23 tackles and 30 interceptions from 17 appearances for Spurs last season but it is not just his on-pitch ability that will buoy The Hoops as he will also provide a boost in the locker-room.
"He’s got a tremendous attitude and work ethic and is an infectious character who will rub off on everyone," said Redknapp.
Jamie Carragher added that away from the big-money signings completed by the Premier League elite, Sandro represents one of the best deadline day purchases.
"He’s a big strong player, who impressed me for Tottenham," the former Liverpudlian said, before concluding: "He has a physical presence and QPR needed Premier League experience.
"They just have to keep him fit."
