Falcao's Manchester United move compared to Suarez at Liverpool - why?

Radamel Falcao

Former Tottenham, Barcelona and England boss Terry Venables says Radamel Falcao will have the same impact at Old Trafford as Luis Suarez did at Anfield.

Terry Venables is confident Radamel Falcao will prove a 'phenomenal' signing for Manchester United.

In fact, he thinks the Colombian's impact at Old Trafford will be just as good as Luis Suarez's was at Liverpool.

Falcao joined Man United in a sensational Deadline-Day loan move, thought to be worth £6 million with the option for United to sign the striker on a permanent deal for a further £46m this summer.

And Venables thinks the 28-year-old's arrival will lift everyone at the club - just like Suarez's arrival did at Anfield.

"Good? It’s phenomenal, the outstanding signing on an incredible deadline day," Venables wrote in the London Evening Standard.

"Falcao’s impact at United will be similar to how Suarez lifted players at Liverpool. Players like Sturridge raised their game to a new level, the desire to win and to be the best swept through the team. That’s what Falcao will do for United.

"There are very few players in the world who can genuinely make a difference in a team and Falcao is one of them.

"They’re very, very difficult to get but when the chance comes you have to be bold enough to seize it and United have done that.

"Okay, it’s a lot of money but it’s what the Premier League is about – the fans want to see something special and this keeps the magic alive."

Danny Welbeck went the other way on Deadline Day, completing a £16m move to Arsenal, while Javier Hernandez also joined Real Madrid on loan.

Louis van Gaal's side will now host Queens Park Rangers in their next Premier League action after the international break.
