A marquee signing from Liverpool, Luis Suarez is banned from competitive football, however, he did take part in a training match this evening.

Barcelona used a friendly match-up scheduled earlier this evening as an exercise to welcome summer signings Luis Suarez and Douglas into the senior level set-up.

Suarez is currently serving a long-term suspension after being found guilty of biting Italian defender Giorgio Chiellini while on international duty with Uruguay in the 2014 FIFA World Cup, in Brazil.

He is due to make his competitive return at the end of October.

However, in order to increase the player's match fitness, Suarez was given a run-out against a Barcelona 'B' side today, Thursday.

The match took place at the club's Ciudad Deportiva training facilities and also featured Douglas Costa.

Barcelona bought Suarez from Liverpool for a £65 million fee.

He was joined by Douglas, a right back from Sao Paulo, on August 26.
